AGRICULTURAL GEOGRAPHY

Agricultural geography is a subdiscipline of human geography. It is traditionally considered the branch of economic geography that investigates those parts of the Earth’s surface that are transformed by humans through primary sector activities. What distinguishes the territorial distribution of agriculture from that of industry is the special nature of the relations between agricultural production and the natural environment, that is, the fact that land in this case is a means of production. The territorial distribution of agriculture obeys a variety of laws characteristic of the social and economic structure within which it is practiced. Agricultural Geography focuses on structures of agricultural landscapes and the processes that lead to these spatial patterns.
